All it takes is a nice day to see a great turnout of cars! Sunday morning we were greeted with perfect weather for the first run of winter. The meeting point in Frewville quickly filled up with 16 Corvettes a Mustang and a couple of everyday drives. With 4 generations of Corvette present (C3-C6) we formed an impromptu car show for the morning shoppers.

We soon got underway and headed up the freeway to the Crafers exit to start our cruise through the hills. The very next turnoff saw the group separate with a large number unintentionally taking a longer scenic route to the first stop at Mt Bold Reservoir.

Once we had all regrouped it was time to start the next leg of the run into Meadows for a quick coffee/toilet/bakery stop and where we also performed the compulsory U-turn for the day.

From Meadows we headed back the way we had just come for a short distance before turning towards Kuitpo and then towards Blewitt Springs. The last part of the run took us along Chapel Hill Road which gives you a great view over the vines of the McLaren Vale wine region before we arrived at our final destination – Magnums Bistro at Hotel McLaren.

A nice lunch at the pub with a couple of quiet drinks filled in the remainder of the day. Thank you to everyone who made the effort to come along…....we certainly weren’t expecting so many cars. A big thanks must also go to the staff at the pub who were able to fit in nearly double the number of people we had originally booked at short notice.

Finally our New Zealand visitors (Lachlan & Sarah) would also like to pass on their thanks for being so warmly welcomed by our club members on the day.

Thanks again everyone!  Breck & Helen Falconer
