PUTT PUTT GOLF OPEN 7/6/15
From 9:00am Corvettes began to arrive at West Beach Mini Golf ready for a fun day out. A turnout of 10 Corvettes was quite good given that it was the middle of a long weekend. We also had a cameo appearance by potential new member Greg in his fabulous looking supercharged 2000 C5.
It was a bit of a cool day so everyone was eager to shift from the car park and start playing putt putt. While waiting to tee off Jan slipped her golf ball into Doug's pants pocket so it wouldn't get lost. When retrieving it she was heard to say with a cheeky grin on her face "there's 3 balls in here!" Obviously Doug must be a semi-pro golfer and decided to bring a few extra balls along for the day! As we all teed off there was plenty of strokes taking place and not so many balls finding their way into those frustratingly small holes. Those with previous golfing experience began to come to the fore and Graham Johns scored an impressive 1 under par 51, including a couple of 'holes in one'. We can only trust that his maths skills used to score his card were up to the task as there seemed to be plenty of hacking going on to get the ball into that last hole! A particular club president (who shall remain anonymous) even made a rather unflattering comparison between our champion's golf score and his IQ.....he seemed to think they were about the same!
After we had finished with the golf it was time to relocate to the West Beach Surf Life Saving Club for lunch. The rest of the day followed the usual Corvette Club routine with plenty of eating and chatting over lunch. Thanks to Laurie for organising another great club outing.
