This year our Christmas dinner was held at Gary and Cathy McPhee’s hacienda at Hallett Cove with a lovely view of the ocean.

What a fantastic night once again.  Gary and Cathy obviously didn’t scrimp in paying for the weather, as it was absolutely beautiful.

We were greeted in the back yard by their beautiful dog, Molly with these big, puppy dog eyes,where the McPhees and the McBrides – common denominator there – had set up the decorations, tables and chairs.  Molly was very happy wandering around all of us looking for a pat.

So, in true Corvette Club style, we ate, drank, talked and picked on several members of our club.

The catered food was very nice with a choice of 3 meats, veggies and salads.  Dessert was also scrummy, being my favourite, Pavlova, with a cheesecake and a fruit platter made by Lynda.

Peter and Lynda set up a lucky dip raffle prize.  The catch being it was the same rules as pin the tail on the donkey – blind folded and spun around.  I wonder why so many of our club members don’t trust us…..!!???

Unfortunately, Kevin’s number didn’t come out, hence we couldn’t set him up with a ‘special’ prize!  Next time Kev, next time!However, the usual shenanigans happened to others, so all was not lost!!

The night nearly turned sour when we suspected that Molly followed someone out of the gate as they were leaving and was running free in the wind…….
We sent out 3 cars to scour the neighbourhood whilst people with torches searched the block beside the McPhee’s place.

Apologies to all the neighbors…. I was calling {a little loudly} for Molly when Ruth came out to me and very nicely advised me that I was wasting my time, as Molly was deaf.  Thanks Ruth!

Fortunately, whist the cars were blinding each other with their high beam lights, Molly strutted out from behind some shrubs, tail wagging….!!  Phew……. !
Finished off the night with a few more drinks, some entertainment from Stuart – no, not the camel story this time and headed home.

The biggest thank you to Gary and Cathy McPhee for being brave enough to host the Corvette Club and also a huge thank you to Peter and Lynda McBride, who, without them, this function would not have happened!
