It was an overcast Sunday morning and the plan was meet at Lyndoch at 10 am for a 10.30 departure, as it was my run everyone could come to me plus for those that came from down south or nearly everywhere else, it would be a morning tea stop.
We gathered at the car park opposite the bakery and as normal took it over, Banjo turned up with his caravan, really, it wasn't that big a run, they had been staying in the Valley and was on their way home so took the opportunity to say hi.
Woodsy turned up to let us know about a walk! Why would I walk when I have a Corvette.
Goof rang to ask if I had a set of jumper leads as his car wouldn't start, luckily the battery charger had put just enough in to get it going so he ended up using 15 litres of fuel in the carpark.
We did the briefing thing and proceeded off for a leisurely cruise with about a dozen corvettes and a few not corvettes, through the Barossa Valley to Angaston, Moculta and to Truro.
At Truro we took the Eudunda road which was a road where we could give the Corvettes a chance to get the revs up a bit and it was like that to Mt Mary.
Now Mt Mary is a pub this side of Morgan and normally you would sail past at 110 kph, because it is set well back from the highway, hosts Donna and Shane have done the pub up and she is a chef and fussy about her food so the meals are excellent.
We had one Corvette that didn't quite make it but thankfully it stopped running outside a pub so it wasn't a total disaster, but the Corvette didn't use any fuel to get home.
When it came time to order lunch Donna made a special effort to take my order, nothing unusual here after all I am the President, so I ordered the fishermans basket, which I have had before and is excellent, Donna looked at me and said "we are out" apparently the look on my face was priceless, unbeknown to me and because I had been raving about it they had schooled Donna up. Bloody Corvette Club members.
Everyone enjoyed the meal and after, a few of us retired to the tables in front of the pub to enjoy the sunshine and a few more drinks before the drive back.
Jim came on the run solo as apparently Catherine was so impressed with her NEW broom that took off on it to Brisbane for the weekend.
