Corvette Club of South Australia Inc.

Small birds of prey glide on the warm air currents above the highway out of Adelaide. Corvettes cruise through the patchwork of green and yellow that is Yorke Peninsula. Derelict houses and rusty, broken windmills stand sentinel to times past while a Bearded Dragon scampers to the safety of the gravel shoulder as the cars rumble past. At Ardrossan we find a spot in the sun with a view of the Gulf and devour a fresh cream kitchener and manage to get sugar from ear to ear. The show of muscle puts a smile on the dials of the local yokels on the verandah of the Warooka pub and when we arrive at Marion Bay the pelicans watch us with disdain. In the Tavern, lunch of Tommy Ruffs & Bubbles! Thank God for Sundays - they keep it real. Mel K.

O.K. Big Dog had to redeem himself after his last run where he decided to turn our Corvettes into 4WD's. Well what can I say? 8.30 am start (are you serious), 333 kms one way, 666 kms return. Devil's number:- just ask Rudy & Kay about that. Anyway we left Bolivar at 9.00 am & on the highway 8 vettes, 1 classic Mustang, 1 928S; morning tea at Ardrossan & we can hear the banjos playing (Deliverance). After morning tea we then went via Minlaton, Maitland, Warooka & on to Marion Bay Restaurant / Cafe. Great view from inside looking out over the water; good food, rustic interior included a cut down corrugated tank used for the wood fired pizzas.  After lunch Karen decided to go for a walk on the beach & Rob said "You're not getting into the car with sand on your feet" (Who's car Rob?) So anyway Karen tried blasting the sand off with the tyre air hose, to no avail; had to settle for bottled water. (Rob U woose). After cleaning the feet, Big Dog took us on a cooks tour of Marion Bay,  1 minute for the tour, 4 minutes for Jim's pit stop (check photos). ANY WAY thanks to Karen & Rob, long runs are needed every now & then.
