Well Sunday morning definitely had an autumnal feel about it with light drizzle as we made our way to Tea Tree Plaza ready for the day ahead.
A small group of dedicated members weren't put off by the wet weather and after a quick coffee we were all ready to hit the road. Given the windy weather the day before we thought it would be wise to take things a bit cautiously as we didn't know how many tree branches etc would be strewn over the roads.
4 Corvettes and 2 other cars set off towards Chain of Ponds before cutting across to Forreston then back towards Birdwood and then on to Lobethal. Unfortunately the views which can usually be seen from these roads where non-existent due to the cloud but it was still a nice drive through the hills.
Our first stop was at the Woodside Heritage Centre where we all filed into Melbas Chocolate Factory to have a look and try out the free samples. Seems Debbie must be preparing for the zombie apocalypse as she was seen carrying out a year's supply of liquorice! We then moved across to the Woodside Cheese Wrights where we got to taste lots of different styles of cheese and spreads etc.
The time came to hit the road again as we took the scenic route through to Verdun to our lunch destination at the Stanley Bridge Tavern. The pub was very busy and we were forced to do the obligatory U-turn in the carpark as it was full.
The rest of the run was spent in the usual manner, a good feed, a couple of quiet drinks and a nice chat with our fellow club members.
Thanks to everyone who made the effort to come out for the day we hope you all enjoyed it!!
Cheers, Breck & Helen Falconer
